I have resolved to...

I like resolutions. They set the stage for growth. This year's resolutions:

1. Gain flexibility- enough to touch my toes.
2. Be a better listener in all situations.
3. Give away at least one wave every session.
4. Never leave a precious board alone in an unlocked car.

Oh, and of course, the obligatory, surf more.

All four are good resolutions to have. I can strongly recomend Kimberly Fowler's "Yoga for Athletes" DVD. If your short on time and don't want to waist the time driving to the studio, etc. it's a good DVD. I know the name sounds kinda of stale, but this DVD really sets a relaxing mood as if you were thier. My wife was addicted to Yoga for years, and would only go to a studio. Now, pressed for time and at least 4 DVD's later, this is the only one she will do.

A, this is a good question but impossible for me to answer. Basically all yoga styles or schools maybe beneficial. The question is where to start and that depends on your goals and current physical status. I would suggest that you go to a school that offers various styles and try a few out. You are looking for postures that are comfortable and a teacher that is helpful. If they don’t mention the importance of breathing during the postures in the first ten minutes run to the door. After all its all about the Prana …

BrownFish makes a very good point in that once you are comfortable with doing the posture DVD's are great. If you are new to yoga I would still recommend a life teacher that can guide you thru the postures. Good Luck
